Being able to share safe abortion related information freely and without danger can ensure that young people, people with diverse identities, sexual orientations or refugees, internally displaced persons as well as those living with disabilities will have a safe space to obtain evidence-based accurate information and also share their experiences and challenges as well as build solidarity across borders, languages and cultures.
Despite the critical importance of online spaces to be able to provide and obtain such information, support and referrals, we realised that there is little being done by the global safe abortion rights community to protect safe abortion rights advocates, activists, providers and seekers when they are sharing or accessing such information online. Learning from all our experiences in country and from across the region, the Asia Safe Abortion Partnership launched a strategic project for Shaping Safer Online Spaces.
