About ASAP Academy Convening 2027

‘There’ is a world where safe abortion rights are recognized, protected and fulfilled.

Where laws are facilitative, health systems are supportive.

And no one dies of an unsafe abortion.

A lot has happened in the year since the last Convening – on the world stage, within our movement and in our communities.

Since the last Academy, the world has faced the horrific reality of who controls world affairs and their utter lack of accountability. We are living through increasing climate change disasters, wars and a relentless tide of patriarchal and capitalist oppression that have destabilized health systems, quality of life and our very future on this planet.

However, the world has also seen the people and communities rise and stand up against all of this, again and again.

In the backdrop of these struggles and inspirations, the safe abortion rights movement needs to take a moment to reflect on who we are, how we can become more cohesive and strategic and what it would take for us to get from here to there.

If we want to wake up one day to a world where safe abortion rights are respected, protected and fulfilled, where our struggles of today are simply a powerful history lesson, then what is needed from us today?

• How do we carry our learning into action, our courage into aligned leadership, our passion into healthy workplaces that support care and well- being?
• How do we alchemize our creativity into strategic advocacy and our evidence into systems?
• How do we stay resilient, confident and capable while also navigating rapidly changing realities?

This Convening will hold the space which will allow us to collectively imagine the future of our work together.
